Disabled adults

We are here for everyone.

The Toy House was established by the parents of disabled children in 1981, to enable their child to have the best opportunities they could offer, and this remains our focus.

Our work with disabled adults is varied, including:

Outreach relaxation sessions

  • Learn relaxation techniques which will help participants to deal with life’s challenges.

  • Improve their wellbeing.

Being a volunteer.

  • Gives people a sense of helping their community and improves social and life skills.

  • Illustrates to our visitors that our disabled volunteers play a vital role in our organisation, hopefully breaking down some of the barriers disabled people face.

Day Service Visits

  • Working with a local school to help maintain their grounds which raised the profile of this group.

  • Overhauling the garden at The Toy House.

Volunteering for success

  • A scheme funded by THT to support disabled adults gain valuable work experience. Monday is dedicated to running craft sessions where the items that are made can be sold as part of a Social Enterprise Scheme.

  • This will help the volunteers gain an understanding of running a business

Attend Cream Teas

  • An opportunity to socialise with others, helping to improve their social skills.

  • Improve their wellbeing.

Equipment Hire.

  • Access to expensive equipment which helps support physical and mental health.
